Wednesday: Relief For a Moment, But Now It Is Time To Work
Much like many Americans, I went to sleep yesterday in a state of anxious hope. As I am sure that you know, things aren't going great in our country, and it has been difficult to be a particular type of person lately. I slept fitfully, but when I woke for the last time this morning, I was encouraged by the news.
So, the mid-term elections are over, but we will see what will actually happen once the new folks take their seats in Congress.
I think that it is pretty evident by most of my comments about politics which party I vote for consistently. I try not to put too much political stuff on this blog or on my social media accounts because I feel that how you vote is a private affair. I don't have to tell you how I vote, and I prefer to keep that private - most of the time.
Today, though, I really want to celebrate that my state has elected our first Democratic senator in almost a century! I want to celebrate that we are getting rid of our nefarious Attorney General, but that is not certain yet. I also want to celebrate our new governor, but the race is too close to call at this point. It would be nice if those I voted for this round won their races - that rarely happens in my usually red state. I also want to celebrate the trend that seems to be happening, not just in my state but in many other places in this country.
It is time to start the work of repairing our republic.
I have hope today that was missing yesterday.
Let's hope it continues...
The hope is here, and now it is time to buckle down and make things happen for the betterment of the country and of the people who made their voices heard.
I am going to add some pages to my "Tell Me Lies" junk journal. This is what I have done with all the flyers that are sent to my home - unsolicited, by the way.
