What's In The Box??? - June (Part Two)

Image
My June box is a bit more full now than it was yesterday when I opened it up. Yesterday, the box revealed that I hadn't really put much into this particular box, so it was time to figure out some things to place into it. I started by printing off my sing about june editions for 2020 and 2021. These books contain several unique Therapeutic Music Experience (TME) plans and some visual aid options. Now I have lots more information available to me for strategizing purposes. I then finished up and printed off a summer music rhythm post that needs to be laminated and cut out to be complete. You can see some of the icons and one of the rhythms ready for the laminator. That is my job for today - laminating everything that I want to use this month. There is a bunch that is not included in this post because their permanent homes are not in the June box (yet), but this file is part of the laminating stack.  One of my TMEs in June 2020 is Bowling for Boomwhackers. This chance composition, let...

What's In The June Box?? Wait For It...

Image
Since it is the beginning of the month, I went to my thematic boxes with anticipation to see what I had stashed in the box for the month of June. What forgotten materials and TME ideas and visual aids would await me to jumpstart my creativity and give me some sparks for my session strategizing?? Wait for it...  That's it! That is all that was in June's box!! This is one of those months where I had not really thought much about what types of things I do in the month of June, and the box REALLY reflects this fact! There are exactly THREE things in this box for use during the month - all of them are orange for some strange reason, and none of them have TMEs attached to them, so that's not going to work for me! This month's "What's In the Box" post is going to be quite disappointing if I don't get to brainstorming and creating and thinking about what can go into that there red box!! For me, June is a month of summer school sessions. We have four weeks of o...

May Box Reveal...

Image
It's time to take a peek inside my May box to see what types of things I have collected for this month and for my session strategies. I started this series last month with the reveal of things that I have stored in my April box, and since it is the first of May, it is time to show you what I have in my May box. I think you may discern a theme here... My May box is one of my favorites because it means the end of the "regular" school year, my birthday month, a break before summer session, and, of course, May the Fourth! As I am sure you can imagine, I have all sorts of things that I include in my May session strategies that include some sort of reference to the splendiferousness of Star Wars! Most of those things are not in my box. I am going to be adding some things to this box for next May - some small board games, a CD of specific music to use during the week of May the Fourth, and some laminated direction sheets for the R2-D2 robot that goes to visit every year! The res...

What's In the Box? April

Image
Every month, I walk to my front closet and take out one of my monthly boxes. In these scrapbooking boxes, I store month-specific visual aids, books, songs, and TME ideas to use during the month. There are lots of things in some of the boxes, and less things in others, but this is a place where I can store holiday-related things until they are appropriate to use. I opened April’s box towards the end of March to see what types of things were in it to use. It was pretty dismal to begin with – one Easter book, some empty animal eggs, and not much else to work with. My March box, on the other hand, had lots of books and visuals for St. Patrick’s Day and Spring things. That’s the way this storage goes – sometimes there are lots of things to use and other times there is just lots of space. I looked around me for some things I could include in the box for this upcoming month. As you know, I have recently reacquired some storage space in my music therapy clinic that had originally had a d...
