Monday Musings
It is Monday again, and I am looking for some sort of routine in my life! I didn't make anything this weekend, so Make-It Monday is not happening right now. Actually, I started making a Valentine's Day themed game board, but I did not finish it. It is sitting on my work table waiting to be finished. I just need to put together the candy rhythms to go with the board game that I am making, and it will be ready to show my registrants for my Make It! CMTE coming up on the 5th of December.
I did not do much other than sitting in my upstairs bedroom, reading books, and watching Korean television shows. I also made bean soup, but I haven't tried it yet. I have a dubious relationship with soup to start with, but the weather just seemed to call for making soup. My house smells like soup now, and that is both good and bad.
It is dark outside. This is the time of year where I feel happier than the summer months. Even with the shift in allergies, I like autumn better than summer. I like Standard Time better than Daylight Savings Time. There you go.
I have an interview today. It is for an executive assistant position for a provider for living arrangements for persons with I/DD diagnoses. They wanted someone with clinical experience, but I have never been an executive assistant before. They contacted me for this interview, so let's see what happens later this morning. The first interview is on Google Meet, so I am thinking about my background. I moved the Cabbage Patch Kid from view, and I am contemplating moving the Disney figurines. I am not sure that Elasti-Girl shows that I am serious and can organize the professional life of another person. It would be nice to be employed, but I am not entirely in love with the idea of being an assistant at this point in my life.
The only music therapy jobs available right now are in behavioral health. I do not want to work in behavioral health again. I want to work with people with different goals and objectives. I also want to have health care that doesn't break my bank account. That's my problem right now.
My to-do list is growing. Right now, I have blogging, my interview, making digital kits for my Make It! group. and laminating things on my list. I want to laminate everything that is waiting for that step as I am waiting for my interview. To do that, I have to clear off my work desk.
It is currently blustering outside. We might get some thunderstorms later this morning. With my luck, it will include power outages and the internet going down right around interview time. That would be WONDERFUL (sarcasm intended). Wow.
Thanks for reading.
See you tomorrow when I will try my best to get out to the library to work and turn in my current book. I like going to the library, but I am not really doing much when I am there. I need to figure out some tasks that are library-specific to do every week. I haven't made it there twice other than the first week, so I will decide whether going more than once per week is important to me. I also have not been to a movie recently - mainly because there is nothing out there that I am interested in seeing. I need to figure out what is important to me and then go do that...
I miss the routine of working, but I do not miss the constant vigilance required to work with the clients I chose to serve for the past 30 years. That is one of the reasons that I no longer want to work in behavioral health. I just don't. I like not having to worry if my clients will throw things at me or start to scream in the middle of sessions. I enjoy not having to use any sort of physical behavior management techniques. I miss the client interactions, though. I really miss the music and the musicking with others.
It is time to finish this post and head into my to-do list. I now have a bit over 3 hours before my interview. My sister will call, and that will take some time away from my waiting but not enough as I start to ruminate on the possibilities of what might happen during the interview. Let's start the laminating!
Enjoy your Monday!!
