Fun Friday: Design Day
Today is Design Day.
By hook or by crook, I will have at least three new designs ready by the end of the day. I am close to this right now. I have two designs in progress. I have arranged a tool and started a game but I still need to scan in some images and write TMEs for all three things before I consider myself finished.
So, I will be moving from my place here on my desk to my drawing table and back again for most of the morning. I will be printing things off, taping things down, and I need to get to the laminating stack that is climbing up and up.
These designs are for our first Creation Group which will be happening on December 5th. I want to have some pictures to help sell the idea to others. I also need to talk to the two people who have indicated interest a bit about who they work with and what will be most valuable for them in their practice so I can adapt what I have into useful things.
I am thinking that a tool, a song, and a game might be the best format for designs for this group, but we'll see what people want. I am hoping to get some more folks for these groups, but I will be happy to run them for only two if that is who shows up.
My design process goes a bit like this - I start by thinking about themes for a specific month or just general themes. I brainstorm a bit about common goals for clients from different population types, and then I start writing ideas down. After that, I look around the things that I already have available before I go to find something else. Once I know what I have, I can think about what I want to make to use. I then look at my collection of file folders, scrapbook paper, and clip-art to see what I can make. Then, I make it! I turn it into a digital file and upload it to my TPT store for others to discover.
Right now, I am in the design phase of this process. I have most of the visuals designed, and I am to the point where I am making demonstration files for the group on the 5th. I have to make them myself in order to be able to show others how to make them. Gotta love task analyses. That was probably one of the best things that I learned as a behaviorally focused student in my bachelor's degree program. How to write step-by-step instructions so others can complete the same thing without me being there...
So, off I go to make something today!!
