Fun Friday: Getting Out

Yesterday's sleep was not a good one. I am sitting here, wondering what is going on with my body, but I have an appointment today that is causing stress in my life. The moon looked full at 2am, but it isn't. That won't happen until Monday, but I am feeling it now.

I am hopeful about the appointment for today. It is something that is going to be stressful, but in a good way. My biggest problem is that I cannot make a decision until things happen next week. I am in information-gathering mode, so it is time to figure out what I want next. It is nice to have some options.

So, my fun on this Friday is going to include learning a bit and thinking deeply about things.

Last night, I spoke to my current intern group about professional behavior and initiative. I always enjoy talking about various topics with interns, mine in the recent past, and others who show up for the hours and the lectures and the conversations. I often wonder if they hear what I am saying, but this group will engage in discussion, so we get a chance to talk to each other about things. There have been some groups where people just stare at the screen without interaction. Those are difficult ones to go through. This group is not like that which is very nice.

This week has been a strange one - I put together a CMTE proposal (waiting for approval or denial by CBMT before I start marketing it all), communicated with several people about potential jobs, stressed myself out about health insurance, watched way too many K-drama episodes about conspiracy theories, and have eaten too much spinach. I am finishing this week with a messy office/craft floor but much more organization on the craft table itself. I have organized my stamps into one location, my paper collection into another, and put projects in progress in another location so I might have a chance of remembering them and finishing them up. I am making a bit of progress with the music therapy materials, which is heartening. I know what my next sing about song edition is about, and I started the brainstorming and material gathering for that theme. I have even worked a bit on my new website design. There is still more to do, but I am chipping away at lots of different projects. I feel accomplished when I remember all that I am actually doing. I just can't always remember those things in the moments.

I had a bit of a giggle moment yesterday when I was talking with my mother. She has an appointment 12 months from now. She does not currently have a 2027 calendar, but I do! I put that appointment on the calendar in my both work and personal planners, so it is written in ink! I can help her remember that she will be going to the doctor on October 22, 2027 because of my calendars and my planner systems! Score one for writing things down!!

I am almost ready to move from my current work planner into my new one. Only 2 pages left!! There is something so exciting about a new book that only people who use planners know. This one has a teal cover, and I put some of my capybara stickers on the covers to decorate the book a bit. I have already put in the 2027 future log/calendar that I prefer, and I had to add November and December for this year. I thought I would keep the current book until the end of the year, but that is not going to happen. Yay for new, blank, design-free pages that I get to do what I need to do on them! I have transferred some of the systems that I found helpful in my current planner into the new one. I have decorated with washi tape, set up my index (I am an index in the back planner, not an index in the front planner), and had fun putting together new systems to try. I prefer a blank book with a dot grid layout that allows me to decorate or not as I feel inn each moment.

I have an identical book for my 2027 personal planner. The cover of that one is light blue, and it has Star Wars stickers on the covers. It is also a blank book with a dot grid layout - I like what I like. That one will not officially start until January 3rd when my current planner fills up. I have also started organizing that one, putting in systems and trackers, arranging my first several monthly and weekly spreads, and arranging the index (in the back again).

Something I may add to both of my journals is a weekly wrap-up. Something for gratitude and acknowledging that I am accomplishing things in both my personal and work lives. I often get bogged down in my failure to do things rather than my celebrations that I have actually done what I have done. For example, the de-cluttering of the craft desk is a big accomplishment, but all I do is see the things that still need to be de-cluttered.

Okay, this Friday, I will be going out into the world to get some human interaction. I will be working a bit more on my website, and I will be continuing to throw things away in my craft space. I also want to print out a bunch of things to make for upcoming exhibits at regional music therapy conferences. I also found materials for another project that I can include on my tables. This will be fun, I promise to myself. I also have to get gasoline for my car.

Fun, fun, fun on this Friday!!
