Wednesday: Decision Making and Figuring Things Out

Forgive me as I engage in some vague discussions about various topics that I do not want to publish...

I have a decision to make about something going on in my life that will shunt me off into a direction different than the one that I have been envisioning lately. I have various and sundry things to think about, and I have to figure stuff out a bit in order to make this decision.

When I am faced with critical decisions about my life and what I will be doing with said life, I have several systems that I use to make the entire process easier on me and my loved ones.

Let's talk about those systems today...

(I promise that this next paragraph will make sense - eventually. Just bear with me, okay??)

I am a paper planner. I use my books in several ways - as a journal, as a calendar, as a task organizer. In the back of my books, I keep pages blank to use as needed for whatever else I need to work through. The books that I have currently are being used up as much as possible before I start a new one. I will be retiring this planner a the end of 2026, and there are extra pages available for my system.

At the moment, my personal planner is open to page 146 where I have started my pros and cons list for this upcoming decision...

A week ago, I had the outline of a plan to start my own business. I worked out ideas and started a business plan on some of the blank pages in my book. Now, a new decision has come to change the possibilities of what my future could be, so I am using the planner to work those things out now.

So, I write all the things that are beneficial to me on one side of the page and all the things that would complicate my life go on the other side. I am starting another list for the first set of decisions that I made to see if there are better options with new decision or old decision. I know where I am heading just because I crave security rather than risk...

This process is one that helps me, especially now that my Dad is gone. He was my sounding board, and I miss him in these moments more than usual. The planner has to be my sounding board now.

So, I will be traveling this morning to help inform my decision making process. There will be talks with my Mom and my sister to help me with it all, and I will figure things out for my future. That's what happens.

Here we go!
