Thursday - Last One For the Month
Today is the last Thursday that I work in the month of November. Next week's Thursday is a day off, and I am looking forward to the break. My focus for my five-day weekend is to organize the music room with some of the things that I am bringing home from work. Other than that, I am expecting some extra napping and many different television shows. After this, there are only three more Thursdays before our winter break and the start of the new year.

We have been doing our Musicians of the Month listening (music awareness) and leisure choice options (executive functioning and life-long leisure skill development). My other groups are getting an introduction to guitars and then some leisure choice options.
My students do not know how to play. It is interesting to watch them just stare into space instead of trying something new or even get something familiar from the cabinets. I mean, I have just about everything. The most used materials are my hot wheels and the tracks that I bought at the Dollar Tree. Of course, those are going into pockets and are disappearing. Ugh.
If it's not one thing, it's another.
I am going to try to figure out something to get going on. I have a new project to keep me occupied. That's always a good thing. I love new projects. I have to complete an application and then I can get going.
Time to fill out some forms and get started on this project!
Having something to do stimulates me. I have five days to get things put away and started up. Fun for me.
My Thanksgivings are always solitary, and I like that. I do not eat any of the "traditional" foods that are usually associated with this holiday in this country. I don't like turkey or stuffing or green bean casserole. I make my own food and am VERY thankful for the opportunity to do so.
Thanksgiving was always my paternal grandmother's holiday. Her birthday is the 22, so we always descended upon her house to celebrate her birthday and Thanksgiving. We had formal portraits done every year. We had all the traditional foods, and I didn't like them then.
I still don't like them.
I remember the year I snuck past an open doorway to throw all my food away so I could qualify for chocolate cake. I threatened my squealing cousin to keep him quiet. I got the stomach flu after that, so the universe taught me a lesson. The best thing to happen to me surrounding this holiday is becoming an adult and not having to eat what is on my plate. I can put things on my plate that I like to eat!! The power of "no, thank you!" I love it!
So, I will be going into my break with lots of expectations and some dreams for the future and the anticipation of good food. That's the best way to do a holiday break. Now, I just have to get through sixteen sessions between now and next Tuesday. I can do it!
This is the last work Thursday in November. Hooray!
