Fun Friday?? Well...
I tried very hard to write something yesterday, but I hit an exhaustion wall and crashed against it, hard. I kept staring at the screen, trying to jumpstart my brain into thinking anything other than "I am so tired." So, no post yesterday. We will see if today will be any better. I am still tired, but not as bone weary as I was yesterday.
It is Friday of the first week of school and the first week that I am back doing music therapy things. Today is my least busy session day. I only have two groups, but that is one more group than I had last year on Fridays. I hope that the new teacher in that group realizes that the schedule changed and didn't try to come in yesterday while I was sleeping. I would actually be find if we changed the schedule to what it is during the summer, but I also figured that it was a good idea to follow the schedule as written for a bit.
Today is payday, which means that my salary will make a quick stop in my account before heading back out into the world. My salary always goes through a couple of adjustments during the school year - when the new benefits go into effect in October, at the new calendar year when the tax changes take effect, and when the contract is approved. I think we are through the last one on the list - two more changes to go.
I am not entirely sure that I am up for fun at the moment. I have lots of mundane tasks to complete - making 10 square frames for our new curriculum, finding world maps to laminate, making number and letter sets for counting and spelling purposes. These are things that our new curriculum (which I cannot access and will not be using) requires, and we are trying to economize. Ugh. I can't even make them fun by using colors or stickers. They have to be plain old things.
So, on the agenda today is two groups - one therapy, one leisure. Making plans to make things once the laminating sheets arrive. Cleaning the task box/file folder area of my storage room. Trying my best NOT to overdo while moving things around. It is too easy to forget that my innards were completely rearranged six weeks ago, and my body is still working through it all. The doctor hasn't called again, so I don't know what he wants to talk to me about.
Lots is going on in my head and in my environment. I am tired, but glad to be getting back into a routine. It is time to do this, so it is good thing that I am ready to do something with my time and my energy.
I have no plans for this weekend. It is move-in weekend for my college town, so everywhere will be busy. I might go see a movie on Sunday, but only if there are lots of empty seats in the theater. I have one movie from my summer list to see before I can finish that list. The movie should still be in the theater on Sunday. It is hot and humid outside, and I am going to limit my exposure to all things outside my home while it is still so miserable. I am paying for my air conditioning, so I need to enjoy it!
So, back to fun.
While I am at work today, I want to get an inventory of my children's books. I have many books that I use for all sorts of things. As I am working on my quest for this year (12 book units for music therapists), I am finding that I have many different types of books that I can use. I have selected my first book, - I revealed it in a previous blog post - and I am working on the therapeutic music experiences (TMEs) that will go with the book's theme. Now that I have found my elusive jumpdrive and have backed up the most recent version onto the cloud, I can complete my brainstorming and creation process. Hooray for finding things that were lost!
A bit of inventory to help me figure out what I have, and what I still want to get. A bit of clearing and cleaning. A bit of music therapy interaction followed by some leisure options on the schedule for today. After that, more time in my office and then travelling home to rest and do home things for the weekend.
What a fun Friday...
I hope that you have some time for administrative tasks (that's what my Friday is at my current job), some time for brainstorming, some time for rest, and some time for something fun. That's my hope for you.
Happy Friday!
