One Thing After Another

Day one of my extended school year is over. "That client" was in attendance and screamed at me twice but waited to escalate until their next therapy session. I did not do my organization routine, but I did go through about 300 emails and finished my documentation including my notes, so there is that. The most difficult part of the day was the constancy of having someone else in my space. The vocational team has moved back into my room, and they open doors and talk almost continuously during what was my quiet time. I did not know how much I have become accustomed to my quiet time until now. It is gone.

On the way home from work, I was contacted by the next specialist that I need to be involved with due to my current medical situations. I have another appointment on the books for next month. July is filling up with medical things.

Today, I add another group to my routine. They will come in at noon - a new time for them and for me to do music therapy. It will take a bit of getting used to, but this will be their regular session time in the fall as well, so I can get into the routine. I will see them at the same time on Thursday during the extended school year, but they will move to 10 on Fridays during the regular school year. Just about the time I get used to our summer schedule, we switch it up again. So, five groups today, six groups tomorrow, and five groups on Thursday before the week is over.

We are learning about the country of Sweden this week. One of my daily groups is also playing Mum Ball - we called it Silent Speedball when I was in school. We are practicing our ability to be silent. I have some students who struggle with not talking, so it is an interesting exercise to see who can play the game and who cannot. The game interrupts the learning part of our hour together, and my clients seem more interested in what I have to say when they get to play games every so often. The half hour groups are playing instruments for the last portion of the listening time - hand drums, rhythm sticks, ocean drums, shaker eggs, and jingle bells.

It is time to move myself into work mode. I guess I did not take my medications yesterday. They were still in my medication holder this morning. That would explain quite a bit of things happening yesterday. I have taken them now, so today might be a bit different. I am also wearing my knee brace and am well-rested, so it is time to get going. What will today bring to my life? Who knows, but I am ready for just about anything. See you soon.
