Monday Musings - It's Going to Be a Late Start Type of Day

Sorry for the absence - I have not been in the mood to write lately. All I have been wanting to do is recline on my bed.

Today is going to be a late start day. This is not because of anything other than my own laziness. It was tough to open my eyes this morning, it was tough to get into the shower, and now it is tough to come up with anything interesting to say about what is going on in the world.

I miss Pope Francis.

I am not and never have been Catholic. I am a Protestant, but I miss Pope Francis. I think that man did so much for bringing the Catholic church into the modern mindset, and I am sad that he has passed away. I am hoping that the next Pope will be more like Francis than Benedict. I am sending my prayers towards Rome today.

I did not get a chance to speak to the person I need to speak with about the incident on Thursday afternoon because she was absent. So, that's still something swirling around in my brain.

I need a project.

I am currently working on getting my home company ready. I have a month left before my family descends upon me to help me get through a medical procedure. I might have another person arriving, and that changes what I need to get going around here. I just have little to no impetus to get things done around here. That HAS to change today!

So, it is my day to work in my library room. After work, I will drag myself down here to work on that room. Usually, I would sleep there because it has the small bed, but I have to prepare for my procedure, so I will have to be close to the good bathroom in order to get ready. So, my sister, Mom, or Aunt will have to sleep in that room. It needs lots of work before it is ready to be slept in by company or family. Time to clear out and clean up.

Tomorrow is my day to work in my music room. That one is better than the library at the moment, but it still needs lots of work. I have things to file and get put in their places in that room. Wednesday is the master bedroom day. Thursday is the entertainment room day, and Friday is my day for cleaning bathrooms.

I think that's all that I have time and energy for this morning. We are going to "celebrate" Star Wars this week before May the Fourth. I have a voice-activated R2-D2 to bring out. I also have a "Galaxy of the Month" presentation to show and music to listen to. This week is just for fun for me. See you soon??

When I am writing music, I tend to do one of two things. I either start with a specific client in mind and write for that client's goals and objectives, or I start with an idea and let the idea grow regardless of the clients that I am serving at the time. Sunday Song - That One Billie Eilish Song, You Know the One...

So... I feel like I need to be totally transparent about something from the get-go of this particular series... I am not good with identifying songs with their performers. I can't identify the song names, but I can almost always sing the song. As I was trying to figure out what song to select for this series, I remembered being in a session last week, listening to a song by Billie Eilish. I really liked the lyrics to the song, but for the life of me, I cannot remember which song it was. I remember thinking, "that would be a great song for our self-awareness monthly theme," but I cannot find the words that I remember in the lyrics search that I am doing of Billie's songs.  This is a common situation for me, but it's also common for my music therapy clients. Dear AMTA

Dear American Music Therapy Association: I am debating long and hard about remaining in this relationship. I have been in this relationship since college, and this is not a decision that I am taking lightly or without great cost.  I am not happy with what you are bringing to this relationship. Now, I have been a selfish partner over the past several years - mainly because I am not feeling like we share a common mission anymore. It is easy for me to place the blame on you, but I know that this is not all on me. I have tried to be invested in communication and support and understanding, but everyone comes to a time where enough is enough. I am trying very hard to decide if the benefits that you provide to me are worth the feelings that I have about where I think you and I are going.
