Making Things Makes Me Happy...Sharing Things with Others Makes Me VERY Happy (AKA - is it time for a giveaway??)

I put together a couple of file folder choice systems for an animal theme yesterday, and I enjoyed the process. Of course, I stopped before I started the laminating and cutting things out part, but I still enjoyed making the animal themed choice boards. These come on the heels of the dinosaur choice board that I made a bit ago and are an extension of my major goal of increasing communication opportunities in my music therapy sessions. I am also almost finished with an animal system similar to the one that I have for food choices - several pages of animal pictures with corresponding labels for storage purposes. That file is just about ready to print out and laminate and the cut out again and then put into a binder for use in my clinic. I also need to print out another food item (the one small card that got soaked through with spittle because the client was enjoying being asked to put it back and wanted a reaction. I prompted and ignored and the client just sucked on the picture for the whole session. I threw it away. Time to make a new one - but just one of those pictures...can I remember which one it is?? Who knows?

Anyway, I have decided to have a quest this school year of increasing my everyday communication opportunities for my clients who use communication systems other than vocalization. After all the talk recently about not having goals, I decided to try a quest because it sounds more exciting than "goals and objectives." It really is the same thing, but it is more exciting to think of it as a quest.

Fortunately, I have lots of clip art that I can use to make these visual aids. I can use them and then sell them to other people. I am ready to make these into functional communication aids as I feel they are appropriate for my clients, so why not offer them to other people as well?

So, I am going to put together a giveaway for the month of September. This month is for planning the materials and what will be included, but I will be giving away a bunch of music therapy themed visual aids on September 30th.

You, dear reader, get to see this plan first. I will put more information up as it gets closer to September 15th (the arbitrary day that I just selected as the start of my giveaway!).

I have done a couple of these in the past, and I enjoy it when music therapists share with other music therapists, so I may do a sign up and nominate another person to get a packet thing as well. It doesn't take up too much time to make another one, so why not?

(Can you tell that I am working through these plans and ideas right now? Welcome to my process.) I have now transferred these dates to my computer calendar and will put them in my bullet journal as well. I am thinking about what to include in a bundle of my stuff.

This type of thing always excites me because I can plan on giving things to someone else! I like being in a place where I can give things away!

Okay, time to move over to Canva and design a giveaway graphic to use to post things on other forms of social media...

Thanks for coming on this journey with me. Comment below on something that you can't live without in your music therapy work for an advance entry into my giveaway!! You may also inspire me to find something to include in my giveaway!!
