A Glove, A Book, and a Weekend of Decluttering

I had a really good day yesterday. I spent time decluttering, shopping, and crafting. I finished up a small book that I made out of thick cardstock, some craft paper, and various bits of writing paper and scrapbook paper. This was a bit surreal, but this book wanted to be finished, so I finished it. I am not going to use it as a journal (I don't have enough words to write in all the journals that I make), so I am going to give it away to someone. Who wants it? Really!! I feel that this book has a home out in the world somewhere, and I want to give it away!

Here are some of the pictures of this little book. The first is next to a tall paperback book to give you an idea of the size of the book itself. I did not measure it, but I will do that from now on. I think this will become a habit - making a book and then giving it to someone who wants it.

This is not my typical style of book, but it was fun to put together. I used some vintage photo cutouts to put together this couple on the cover. They look like they are on an adventure, and I am craving an adventure, so it seemed like a good omen to have this picture come together. Maybe we will all be able to go out into the world for adventuring soon! This book will be the first step in getting out into the world of travel again!

I had to go to get medications yesterday, so I spent a bit of time in craft stores before I went grocery shopping and medication purchasing. I bought some sale items and spent time browsing through paper and stamps. I was able to find what I was looking for (unusual for me, but made the whole trip worth it!). I took some time to wander around and noticed that all of the stores that I used to shop in before COVID have rearranged everything. It was like being in a completely new store! This was a bit discombobulating for me, but I guess I will have to get used to it in almost all of my familiar stores. It happened in my grocery store, too.

I am wearing a glove almost all the time now to decrease swelling in my injured hand. The doctor is pleased with my bending and my strength in those fingers, but he is not pleased that my hand and fingers are still always swollen. So, I have a wonderful Isotoner fingerless glove that covers my palm and wrist. It is taupe. Taupe is the color that seems to follow me around a bit too much. (It's a family joke.)

The best thing about yesterday was feeling like it was okay to head out into the world to do some browsing. My county still requires masks, so everyone was practicing social distancing and doing what we all should be doing - continuing to mask and having consideration and concern for and about others. I was happy to spend some time (sorta) around other people in a store setting. I will not be doing more of that for a bit, but it is nice to know that I might be able to go places a bit more frequently than in the past, what, fourteen months?

The rest of this weekend will be spent decluttering (I am on a roll now), making a menu list for this week that involves limited cooking and lots of heating up stuff, and maybe getting another book ready to give away. I have one that is sitting on my desk waiting to inspire me. I already have my session strategies put together for this week, so I can spend some time today putting together a webinar for tomorrow night and taking things to the dumpster when they are decluttered. The craft room needs the most attention, but it is on the list for break rather than right now. Right now is living room and kitchen focused. My little robot vacuum, Huey, is making his rounds of my home as I am writing this, so the floors are getting vacuumed.

My breakfast is about ready to eat (lasagna in the morning is WONDERFUL!), so I am going to finish now. See you tomorrow?
