Wednesday... Right??
Oh dear. It is starting to blur - the day, the week, the time that I have to spend doing things. It is horribly hot here (for me, at least), so I have no desire to go outside for anything - no shopping no movie, nothing outside my home. The biggest problem?? I don't want to do anything inside my house, either, but I am doing that inside stuff very slowly right now.
I made my decision about health insurance, and I used some of my savings to cover the cost right now. I have to go six weeks between paychecks right now, so I am budgeting very strictly at the moment. I have a month to do before I get my first pension payment, and I am still not sure what that payment is going to be.
Today is my first official day without a teaching contract. I am finished with all things that were part of my old job, and the space, the clients, the position is someone else's. Strange thoughts and feelings right now, but something anticipated and invigorating as well.
One of the things that I have managed to do pretty well over the past six days (has it only been six days??) is to arrange my work for each day. Yesterday, I was very dizzy all day, so I did not do much except stay surrounded by soft things. Today, the dizziness seems to have abated (which happens with Meniere's), so I am going to be adding more to my to-do list.
Here Is how the process works for me.
I have a book that I have dedicated to use for my work planner. I used the book at my job up until seven days ago (wow!), and it still had about half of the book left, so I thought I would continue the book here at home.
I have decided to try something that I don't usually do when I am working in a planner - I am using the more traditional bullet journal set-up rather than the calendar format that I have used in this book in the past. So, I sit down at the computer here every morning and start to figure out what tasks I need to work on during the day. I make my list and figure out what I can do during the day. I am trying to keep this book focused on work tasks rather than on home tasks. Each task has an indicator to go along with it based on the type of thing on the list - task, finished task, note, appointment, phone call, something put off for another time, and one for cancelled tasks. I even have a KEY for my different symbols. Making this list helps me avoid task paralysis because I have a list that I can work from.
After I have started my task list, I start to work on what I need or want to do during the day. I can add or stop any task during the day. If I find myself wondering what is next, I look at the list. I also have pages with different workflow outlines to help me get projects finished up - all of the details and steps that have to happen to get something finished up. These outlines and reminders help me finish things.
Today's list has one task to do that concerns things outside of my own system. I have a couple of projects that I need to work on, and a couple of tasks to coordinate and get going. I will be able to move from parts of each task as I get things finished up. I have to do some repairs to my desk as well - the desktop is shifting, and I do not like that. I also need to add a rail to the back of the desk so I don't push my computer monitor off the back of the desk. That is something that I want to avoid!
So, after taking yesterday off because my world was spinning around me, I am ready to get back into my current projects this morning.
Off to compose some music about the ocean for sing about the ocean and finish the therapeutic music experiences for that edition. After that, it will be time to release the edition and offer my first ever subscription box! I also want to do some video editing and make a new marketing video to the masses. It is time to check off "Blog" on the task list and move to the next thing. Here we go.
Happy Wednesday.
