Fun Friday: The End of Week One of "Retirement"
So, I have been officially "retired" from my full-time job for a week. During this week, I have been focusing on Creativity Camp 2026 (details here). I am about halfway finished with the task analyses, but I have to get things figured out and sent to participants. There is still time to enroll in a bit of creative CMTE fun, if you'd like!
I am not really feeling the reality of what I have chosen to do with my life right now, but I will pretty soon. I do know that I have lots of stuff to move through and move on, but I haven't even started that process yet. I have been living on microwaved meals because the kitchen is overwhelming me right now. I haven't cooked anything in a week. I have assembled meals from what is in my fridge. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed, but I have my file folders to escape to which helps.
I have been taking naps, but I have been having bad dreams during those naps. The theme has been my home and things happening around my home. I have done a bit of dream interpretation, but who knows what things mean in my subconscious... I am tired and a bit bored, so things are happening in my brain that need to be interpreted.
So, what is fun about this?
I have nothing but time ahead of me for the next two months. I am trying to establish a home routine that includes blogging, work tasks, and creative experiences. I also have to include some exercise and time outside of my home around other people. At the moment, I am not leaving my air conditioning until the heat advisory lapses. I hate the heat, so there is no reason to go outside right now. Once the heat subsides a bit, I want to start walking outside. I just can't do that at the moment due to the thick, wet air.
The fun part, for me, is getting to do things that I want to do when I want to do it. I wrote a song the other day - from idea through sheet music - which is something that I have not done for months and months. I might put some composing time into my routine. I don't have a dedicated time for that, but it might be a daily task that I include. That would slip nicely into creative time.
Right now, it is 6:10 am, and I am hearing someone mowing their lawn. Personally, I think that 6 am is way too early for mowing in a community, but I'm up, so it doesn't really bother me too much other than feeling like other people might not appreciate the noise at this time...
I am also sitting here, blogging. I have started my task list for the day - this a habit that seems to be taking root and making sense for me.
The fun for this Friday is going to be working on the Creativity Camp Packet. I have three more task analyses to write up, to figure out how to give my participants these files, and make everything polished and ready for distribution. In between bursts of attention and work, I will do some moving things around my house and warming up food in the microwave. I also have some neverending home chores to address - dishes and laundry and the like. I have one more book to read before I return to the library next week, so I want to do some reading as well. After that, who knows what I will get finished? I certainly do not.
Time to finish this post and get going into my day. Happy Fun Friday, all! I hope that you are able to stay cool wherever you are.
