Saturday

This picture is a picture of Walter, my Mother's cat. He is sitting on the towels that she has put down because he likes to vomit in protest when he does not get to go outside. He is halfway between where I am sitting and where my mother is sitting, and this is how he sits at times. Just thought I would include him because he puts himself into all sorts of situations where his whiskers do not belong!!

Here it is. Another Saturday morning.

I am sitting in my Sister's childhood bedroom which is now the papercrafting room in my Mother's house. The room is covered with bookshelves housing stamps and markers and decorative stickers and die cuts and punches and paper galore. Looking at this room, it is evident that I come by my packrat tendencies by both nature and nurture. My childhood bedroom is the fabric and sewing room. My Brother's childhood bedroom is my Mother's computer room, and Dad's suite is where Mom goes to shred documents. It is interesting how this house has changed since Dad died and my Brother moved out. It has changed, and it is still the same.

This has been a good week.

I have spent lots of money so far on food for my family members and on things for me. I will head to UPS soon with my boxes and Reynaldo's portrait for shipping. I hope that everything will arrive by the time I have to go back to work, but there is no guarantee of that happening in my timeline. It's a good thing that I have that money budgeted for just such a situation.

Today is thrift day shopping, so I probably will not be sending off boxes until either later today or on Monday. My Mom and Sister know all the good thrift stores, so I will be looking for books or toys or instruments. I have found a flute and a mini drum kit at one of the stores that they go to on a regular basis. I am looking forward to a bit of shopping with them today. We will probably go out to eat and then will come home to pack things up. I have room in my suitcase to take some things back with me immediately, but I have more to take than I have room, so into boxes things will go!

We have already gone to Daiso twice. We do not have any stores close to me in Kansas, so I have enjoyed finding some of my favorite Japanese pens and journaling stickers here in the United States for less than I can get the same pens from other sources. I have bought way more than I need, but I am feeling happy about what I bought. I love pens and markers, so looking at my bag full of stationary items gives me pleasure.

We have one other place to go for the types of pens that I love to use when writing, and I am sure that we will be going there today. My Sister has talked about this particular spot in our local mall for a long time. We only go every other year, so we have to go this year. I need more pens!

So, between the shopping and the eating that we have done this past week, my allowance is shrinking rapidly, but that is okay. That is why we save and budget, so we can have an allowance when it is necessary. I already have my parking money squirreled away where it cannot be touched, so I am good to go! The envelope system starts in January with whatever I do not spend this week! After that, I will use my monthly allowance to put money in envelopes for entertainment purposes.

I have all sorts of plans for this new year. We will see how much I get done.
