Starting Things Over Here...

I am in a mode of starting projects, and this one is a doozy.

For some time now, I have wanted to change the way my craft space looks. I have a hollow door that I use as my table space, and yesterday, the door was sticking out into the room. This format provided a way to sit and craft while watching television, but when my family came to visit, it became obvious to me that this configuration really blocked most of the room. So, an idea started in my brain to push the door flush against the wall. I started that project yesterday morning.

Now, the thing about me and projects like this one is that I have some ideas in my head of what I want to accomplish, but my body no longer sticks with things until the bitter end. So, I currently have all the furniture pieces put away where I want them, but I have much more to go through, organize, declutter, and then use. I have displaced all of the things that lived in that corner. They are now scattered all over the rest of the room.

Fortunately, I have today to work on getting this part of my home looking more organized and feeling more functional to me. Since all of the big stuff has been moved, the rest of the work is less taxing on my aging body.

My ultimate goal for my living space is "a place for everything, and everything in its place."

To that end, I label things, make maps, and try to remember where I put my eyelets when I need them for my bookmaking projects.

Part of this project is a way of controlling things that I can control while other parts of it are to help me create as much as I can.

My goal for the next three months is to generate and create things to sell to my fellow music therapists at the Midwestern Region's conference in March. To that end, I need a place where I can work on these projects that has lots of space. I also need storage for these things after I finish them up. I am hoping that this change in how I arrange my work spaces will help me create the things that I want to create.

While I am working on this physical project, I am going to be creating my list of things that I want to offer at the conference. I will be driving to this conference, so I can pack my little car to the brim, if I want to. What I am envisioning is a place where people can buy physical visuals, digital copies, and other things as I decide to make stuff. Lots of things means lots of storage and lots of work between now and then.

I am going to spend some time putting things together down here. I will start with one corner and work my way across the room, putting things with things that already have places and finding places for things that do not have a set location yet. I will move the craft books across my downstairs to the library where they can stay. There is much to do, but things are starting over here, and I am happy to be moving forward.
