TME Tuesday: Collections of Ideas That I Write...

One of the long-term goals that I had when I started this blog and way before that when I started my website was to publish therapeutic music experiences (TMEs) for music therapy students, interns, and professionals to use with clients that I will never actually meet. This was the tenet of my first thesis, but it was nixed by my second advisor who never actually looked at what I had done and was not interested in trying to keep me going. I ended up doing a thesis topic that was not a passion project for me at all. I was very disappointed about it all, but then I realized that I actually did not need permission from any professor to do this project outside of school

Hence, sing about songs!

I have written several books that contain lots of TMEs. I have books that center around a specific theme, and I have changed from publishing entire books to a subscription service where subscribers get 4-6 TMEs per month. I offer this as a digital resource that can be printed off and includes all sorts of extras. Some months include sheet music for all TMEs. Some months include visual aids to print and make, and some months include it all! I also add in some planning aids including music lists and obscure upcoming holidays. This is a labor of love for me, and I enjoy making it happen and then sending it out to subscribers on the 5th of every month.

This is a product post - something to highlight what I spend my time doing when I am not sitting in front of clients and engaging them in TMEs - I am always very uncomfortable with these types of posts, but I know that it is important to tell readers that I do have things available for you to use in your own music therapy work.

So, for the price of two Venti Caramel Macchiatos per month, I send out ideas for you to use in your sessions! If you ever find yourself wondering, "What am I going to do with my clients this week/month/session?", then this is the resource for you! Like I said, it comes straight to your email box on the 5th of each month. These are specifically NOT labeled for any sort of population - you can use the TMEs with just about any age of client. It is always my quest to make sure that fellow music therapists can take these TMEs and adapt them to use with specific clients in specific settings. I also hope that these TMEs spark additional ideas with the therapists who use them.

If you are wondering if you would like to see this resource before buying it, consider this offer - I will give you a copy of sing about january 2022 for free to everyone who comments on this blog with their email address. No other strings. I will not publish your email addresses to this blog - they will stay private between you and me. I will send you the digital copy with 48 hours of getting your comment along with some information on how to subscribe to this service.

Now, it is time for our TME Tuesday - Here is a favorite one first posted long ago...

TME Tuesday - Do What I Do - Old School

Today's TME is one that I wrote when I was at an interview way back in 2001. Pardon the old school way of presenting it - it's one from my card box days, and I haven't transferred it into the electronic format yet. This song is one that offers leadership opportunities to clients. The one, two, three prompt triggers completion of the motor example or the desired action. I've used this for toothbrushing, hygiene, motor skill refinement, and many other things during the years.

Enjoy!!
