Ending With a Sigh

This week ended well - with a sigh rather than a storm or a whimper. While I was exhausted when I got home last night, it was a good type of exhausted; the type where you feel like the day was spent in good things. I fell asleep early and then woke up early (around 1am-ish). While I am still tired and would LOVE to be back in bed, that is not going to happen, so I am sitting here at 6:06am watching the sun start to lighten the sky. It was stormy this morning, but it seems to have quieted down significantly.

There are (officially) 10 more work days until the end of the regular school year. That number does not include weekend days, but I do, so there are actually 13 days left until the school year is finished, and I start my first summer break. I will have another one in July, and that will be the break where I "vacation." This break is for decluttering and organizing and being creative in my home. I am looking forward to it all the more because I am planning to go to be with my family later on. It has been a very long 18 months.

Anger Monsters - this was a fun project!
I had a brainstorm about what I want to do with my students during our extended school year (ESY) sessions. I will be doing half of the sessions and will see eight of our twelve classes during the summer. My intern will be covering four classes completely and will share many of the others with me. I like to have something different happen during summer - more for my benefit than that of my students - so, I was trying to figure out what to do. I decided that we are going to have an overarching mystery to solve - think the board game Clue, but with a music therapy twist! I am going to turn this into a visual file and make it look all fancy-like. It will involve the removal of all of the "C" notes in the music therapy room by one of my anger monsters. There will be an emotional motive and a secret hiding place to figure out. Students will earn _lues (no "c" use, remember, they are missing) by completing therapeutic music experiences (TMEs) each week and each class will help other classes to decipher who is innocent. I am excited, and this idea has sparked lots of brainstorming over the past three days.

My to-do list is full today. I have to make a doctor's appointment for some time during my break for my annual physical. I haven't done the Sunday School video yet - that has to be generated. I need to go to Walmart to pick up some prescriptions. I want to go to craft stores to get some stamp pads for my book making hobby. I also need to clean my living room up because the apartment company is coming in to change filters on Wednesday. This is the visit that I need to spur my decluttering. I have already made progress on that front by going through my kitchen surplus. There is still much to be done, however.

There is always more to be done...but that's a good thing.

It is time to get going into this day.
