Tuesday at Teachers Pay Teachers - My Store
In last Tuesday's post, I decided to use future Tuesdays to get into the practice of showing others what I do over in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop - mainly because I need to become more comfortable telling others about the resources that I have made available, and also to decrease my queasiness around all things selling. (More on all this on last Tuesday's post.)
I am now going to do my first Teachers Pay Teachers self-promotion post and please know that if you purchase anything from my store, you provide me with a small amount of income, so thank you for reading this and considering downloading one of my digital creations.
(Boy, there is the queasy feeling.)
The first thing that you need to know about Teachers Pay Teachers is that it does require a membership, but you do not have to pay for anything. Once you have made your account, there are so many files to peruse that you will be able to find almost anything for almost any type of music therapy theme that you have conceived! There are lots of free resources, and there are lots of different price points. I have many files that I've found for free that need just a bit of adaptation to make into a therapeutic music experience - most of the time that just means coming up with a song or music instrument experience that is supported by the visual aid.
The next important thing to know is that the people who post things get a small amount of money when you purchase a file. I will NEVER get rich doing this, but I find it to be a fun process to take an idea, develop it into a visual aid, and then sharing it with others. I purposefully have nothing over 10 dollars on my store because I know what it is like to be a music therapist.
The last thing I want to share is that once you purchase a file, you have it forever. You can make as many copies of the file for your own use as you want or need. There are copyright fair use expectations in place, so don't give other people's intellectual property away - respect the creators, 'kay?
Let me start with the freebies in my shop today!
My first free download is Pig in a Mud Puddle. One of the rules of Teachers Pay Teachers is that the first file uploaded has to be a free resource offered to anyone who wants it. I had seen an idea on Pinterest that sparked an idea in the back of my head. A song popped into my head, and I was able to draw some little pigs to supplement the song idea. Voila, an idea was born!
Now, this particular file was my very first ever produced for my store, so it is not the most polished, but I include the song in my visual download. So, not only do you get a free file folder pattern that you can use over and over again, you also get a song to go with it...I'm pretty proud of the file, and I think that it would be a great addition to any music therapy program working with little kids or older students who are working on letter recognition.
My next free download is a quick little song for Drop Everything and Read day, week, month, year - whatever time span you would like! Again, some visuals and a song are included for your use!
The last one is a Music Therapy Session Strategy Sheet - Group. In addition to making visual aids, I like making forms for music therapy treatment and sharing what works for me with others. This is just one way of making sure that you have all sorts of materials, ideas, TMEs, and what have you ready for the group sessions that you are leading with clients. This strategy sheet will be coming out in an individual form at some point, but I do mostly groups, so that's why we have the group version up and for free.
If you do get one of my files, I would appreciate any sort of comments that you have. You can leave ratings and comments on the file itself, or you can certainly address anything here on the blog as well. If you have visual aid needs, also let me know. I love making things, and I love to make things that are useful for other music therapists. Are you using themes to organize your session strategizing? Let me know what themes you are using!!
