Fun Friday the 13th

Today is Friday the 13th of December, and I am getting ready to lead a holiday sing with about 150 people. It is also payday, so it is not a bad day at all. I am currently debating what to wear and how to arrange my music so all can hear and see. I also have a reward session and a group session to run today before the Sing, so I have to figure out things within a slightly different time frame than my usual Friday time blocking.

I got a new badge yesterday because I still cannot find my old badges and my keys. Fortunately, I have spare keys so I can get into my inner doors until I find my old keys. They have to be somewhere where I can access them because they are not anywhere else. I have to have dropped them in my car somewhere because I used them to get out to my car. What a mess, but I can access the outer doors now, so I can get into the building when needed. I need to get into the building today.

I have run Holiday Sings for about 15 ish years now. These started when we built the new gymnasium which was supposed to include a full stage but ended up not including the stage that I was promised or the sound system that I was promised either. Our full-out Holiday programs had to be adapted, so the Holiday Sing was born - out of desperation. It is basically a caroling party where we all sing together. This year, we are going to be dancing as well because I am not going to learn This Christmas or All I Want for Christmas on the guitar. I'm just not. The original artists can have the glory, and I'll enjoy watching everyone dance!

After the Sing, I will be officially finished for this holiday season.

I was thinking about things that I really enjoy when I was commuting home yesterday. One thing that makes me feel happy these days is making task boxes and file folder activities for people to use. I enjoy cutting and Velcroing. I get great joy from making these things, so I am going to focus on this form of making for the next quarter. It is time to get going, so I have to organize things to give me the space for making. It is a never ending cycle, ya know? Organizing, making, reorganizing, making more...

So fun things today include singing with others, being finished with holiday obligations, payday, and then some time to organize things. My goal is to have the craft room finished up. I have organized my yarn into bags to donate to one of our local middle school's crochet club, so I have some space to use! Hooray for space!!

Next week is Center week and December Musicians of the Month. I will spend some of my afternoon (after the Sing) doing some planning for what centers will be Monday through Thursday. Before all of that, though, I have documentation to finish, a Sing to prepare for, an individual session, a group session, and then the actual Sing, so it is time to get going. See you tomorrow??
