Monday Themes

I am back to wanting to do thematic blogging for some of the days of the week on this blog. Mondays used to be internship focused but I no longer have an internship, so I have stopped writing on that topic. Since I am not in the internship world anymore, I feel like writing about it is sort of hypocritical.

So, I am trying to get back into a routine of writing thematic posts at least three times per week.

These themes have to be things that interest me about the world of music therapy, but I am not really in the world of music therapy at this point. All I can really talk about is what it is like to be a vintage clinician, and I think that would get boring real quick for me and for you. So, let's see what else I know...

  1. Therapeutic Music Experience development
  2. Group management
  3. Being a clinician in a world that favors research
  4. Budgeting for a music therapy practice
  5. Becoming an entrepreneur
  6. Making things for clients
  7. Some music therapy history
  8. Music therapy systems that work for me
  9. Ways I organize my music therapy life
  10. Things that go through my head when I am around other music therapists
  11. The future of music therapy
That's a pretty good list, don't you think? Here are some of the themes that I have used over the years that I could continue...

  1. Cultural considerations
  2. Sing a song
  3. Thrifty therapist
  4. Thoughtful Thursday
  5. Research (ugh - that one didn't last long)
  6. Just a song
  7. Song conversion
  8. Song switch
  9. Being a music therapy internship supervisor
  10. Make it Monday
  11. Tuesdays at Teachers Pay Teachers
  12. Webinar Wednesday
  13. Website Wednesday
  14. Weekly wrap-up Wednesday
  15. Favorite Things Friday
  16. Fiction Friday
  17. Fun Friday
The problem that I have right now is that nothing is really stirring my interest or imagination. I am not feeling like I have anything to contribute to the world of my profession right now. It may be time to get back into different aspects of the organizations that are around this profession, but I am not excited about all of that drama...

For the moment, I think I will get back into Mondays as a focus on creating things for my music therapy practice. This would go well with my quest to have twelve book related sing about song editions by the end of the school year. It also gives me a chance to stretch my creativity.

So, Mondays will be Music Therapy Creator days for the near future.

I am going to spend some time creating today. I want to get something finished before I head out to my new specialist for an appointment. I was going to head to the library, but I think I will do that tomorrow. That gives me a long stretch of time before I go to the doctor's office. I have started a sing about song theme packet, so I have a direction. I need to go through my clip art and start to design the visual aids that go with the theme - it's a secret for right now but should be released soon. Before that, though, I need to take a shower and get moving on my day.

Back to the theme for Mondays...

Making things is one of the activities that gives me the most joy. I like making things for music therapy. I have all sorts of things that I like making. Right now, the focus is on digital formats but soon I will take those digital forms and make them into analog versions of the visuals for use by my clients later.

If you are someone who likes to make visuals for your clients, then stay tuned to this blog on Mondays. If you are someone who prefers to purchase visuals to use with clients, then stay tuned to find ways to purchase finished versions of the things I offer on TPT. I will always be happy to make more and more things for other music therapists.

Thanks for being here, reader. I appreciate it - more than you know...
