Just a Song Sunday
Part of my identity as a vintage music therapist is my CD and cassette collection.
Now, I have purged many of my cassettes, but I cannot seem to get rid of the CDs that I purchased over many years. I use them in my car during commutes because wi-fi and data usage and all that is confusing to me (that's where the vintage label becomes VERY evident), so I prefer my music in tangible form rather than in streaming. So, I have book after book of CDs in my living room.
The reason I bring this up is that the songs that I have been listening to lately are from yet another soundtrack - Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. This is from a sweet movie that discusses grief and creativity and love, and the music is wonderful. It is currently the only CD in my car, so I am listening to it often.
I cannot identify a favorite track in the soundtrack. It all blends together nicely. There is only one vocal track, and that one is not my favorite. I enjoy the leitmotivs and the way the music flows. I recommend it if you are looking for relatively unknown instrumental music for background support or different music for listening to. The movie is pretty obscure (which is too bad, it makes me cry every time I watch it), so the music is also obscure. There are times when the unfamiliar can do more than the familiar.
I will continue to listen to this CD for a bit, but one of the items on my "Little Tasks to Do Before Returning to Work" to-do list is to change the CDs in my car book. I have gone through the 40-some CDs in the book right now, and I want to refresh the options for my upcoming commutes.
Fortunately, I have plenty of music to choose from.
One of my long-time quests has been to copy my CDs onto my computer. It is what I used to do, but I want to get digital copies of everything so I can use those files in different ways. (I still have the opportunity and tools to burn CDs and rip music.) Once I get that task completed and all of my music to the cloud, I will have some ability to use it when I want it. It just takes time and patience to start the process, and I haven't had much of that recently. Perhaps it is time to start again.
I am finding all sorts of things that I have loved in the past again. So, I am going to spend some time making things that I enjoyed making before 2022 as part of my not-work time. Things like making videos, coordinating CMTE opportunities, ripping music, art journaling, making visual aids, and getting some things done! I am going to be making some quests related to these things, so stay tuned.
For the moment, I think I will make some breakfast and start ripping my CDs onto my computer. While I am hopping from computer to other things, I will work on some laminating and making some visual aids. That will be a good way to keep myself busy and away from ruminating on different things going on in my life.
Find some music for yourself this week - something to listen to that does not have client connotations - and enjoy it. I will be rediscovering old favorites and trying to get some new favorites as well. Enjoy!!
